I feel like I am usually apologizing for a lack of updates here, but in the principle of consistency, I would like to apologize once more for the lack of updates. As you will hopefully see this September, I’ve been hard at work getting this next book finished and prepped for publishing. Beyond that, I have been diligently finishing my undergraduate degree, which has consumed much of the past year.
However, on to the good news. The next book in the Cloudkicker Trilogy, Desert Siren, is now complete. There are always going to be minor edits, of course, and changes that come with proofing. At this point, though, all that remains is the interior design and a massive load of paperwork. So, without further ado:
Desert Siren releases on September 18, 2018!
I am extremely excited to have this announced far ahead of time. I will also be doing a few things differently, one of which will hopefully be pre-orders. I will make another post about that when details are finalized (likely by the end of the month.)
The biggest change is that this will be my first true hardcover release. It will be digital and hardcover with a lovely dust jacket designed by my friend and professional designer Brad Holten, the cover of which you can see above. Prices have not been set yet, as I need to get the final page count in to Ingram, but it will likely be in the $25 range.
Another significant change is that I have applied for the Library of Congress’s control number program for small and self-publishers. This means that, if accepted, Desert Siren will be my first book to have an official catalogue number for libraries, as well as an official copy on record at the U.S. Library of Congress! This is a major step, and one I’m very proud to begin working on! I have not been accepted quite yet, though, and waiting to receive that control number will take a week or two at least.
I’ll have more details leading up to the release on a few other things as well. This will have an actual marketing push, and if the proofs turn out well the first time or so, I should have enough time to send out a few Beta copies to interested readers in the weeks before release. This is much better than crossing my fingers and hoping like last time!
In any case, I am back and excited to share this new project with you. I’m currently getting the chapter headings designed and added into the interior, which is a pretty big step in itself. So far, they look much better than those in The Sky Thief.
Stay tuned, and keep your eyes peeled for mid-September!
